Will the new BMW M3 F80 'only' have 420 bhp?

The expectations about the new BMW M3 F80 are that it will be introduced coming year. For the first time ever we will find a turbocharged engine under the bonnet of the M3. BMW tries to leak no further details but insiders came on a VIN-number which reveals the first details of the model.

The VIN-number means Vehicle Identification Number and with that some details of the car can be revealed. This specs are representable for the M3 and M4. The S55 3.0 triturbo engine will only have 420 bhp. Yes, that’s the same as the current M3 E92. What will increase is the amount of torque, to 535 Newtonmeters. Another thing will drop, the weight of the car. BMW’s biggest focus is the reduction of weight on the car. They're aiming for the weight of the old M3 E46 which weighs only 1470 kilograms in stock form. The M3 E92 weighs 1555 kilograms, partly because of its V8 engine. Of course the M3 will have a straight-six again, which means a lower weight, which is as important as the power. We expect the new M3 to appear for the first time on the IAA of Frankfurt coming autumn.
