This is the First AMG One in Monaco

We’ve been so patient, but after almost seven years, it seems the AMG One has found its way to customers!

During the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017, Mercedes introduced the AMG One, a crazy hypercar that was meant to bring Formula 1 to public roads. The technology comes from the Mercedes-AMG W07, the car that Nico Rosberg used to win the drivers' championship and that the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team used to win the constructors' title.
The hypercar has a hybrid powertrain with a unique 1.6-liter V6 turbo engine on board. It’s actually the same engine used in Formula 1. Meeting CO2 regulations was a pretty complicated task for the smart minds in Affalterbach, because a Formula 1 engine normally runs at much higher idle speeds, which leads to significantly higher emissions. Luckily, it seems the car is now ready. The first ones have been delivered, and many more will follow this year. We’ve already seen one in the Netherlands. This is the very first one in Monaco, and many more will follow, as many (former) Formula 1 drivers live in the principality. Valtteri Bottas has one, and Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, and George Russell will likely get one too.

Only 275 units will be built, with a price of over 2.7 million euros. Because of the long wait, customers received a Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Project One Edition as a gift. Whoever has one automatically gets the AMG One (on order).
Now, the performance. The system output is not less than 1063 horsepower. Because of the batteries, it’s a relatively heavy hypercar, but it can still reach 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds. The top speed is 352 km/h. The car has a DRS system, like Formula 1 cars and the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. However, the AMG One was the first road car to be equipped with it. The technical data I’m mentioning here isn’t even the most impressive part—the really impressive thing is the lap times it achieves on the racetrack, because that’s what it was ultimately designed for.
This is undoubtedly the first of many in Monaco, with more to be seen soon on Autogespot!
