The rebirth of the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale

The rumor mill about this car has been active for a long time, of course. But finally, Alfa Romeo put an end to it and introduced the brand-new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. The active observer and connoisseur can certainly still remember the legendary Alfa Romeo Tipo 33, and they know that for many, it is considered the most beautiful automobile in history.

The Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale was manufactured from 1967 to 1969. It is an extremely rare variant with only 18 examples, making it a coveted collector's piece. The design of the Tipo 33 Stradale was created by Franco Scaglione. It is known for its eye-catching gull-wing doors and its sleek, aerodynamic appearance that was revolutionary in the 1960s.
Under the hood of the Tipo 33 Stradale is a 2.0-liter V8 engine with around 230 horsepower. This engine was developed by Autodelta, Alfa Romeo's racing division, and was based on the engine used in the Tipo 33 series racing cars. Thanks to its light weight and powerful engine, the Tipo 33 Stradale could reach an impressive top speed of around 260 km/h (about 162 mph). Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) took only about 5.5 seconds.
At its launch, the Tipo 33 Stradale was one of the most expensive production vehicles worldwide. The high price added to the exclusivity of the model.

The new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale aims to fully evoke the old Tipo. From the distinctive shape of the headlights to the gull-wing doors, no detail has been overlooked. The forward-leaning design has a powerful and muscular stance. Prominent features include the iconic emblem and the intricate elliptical-based lighting. The profile is dynamic and slim, with butterfly doors that feature two large air intakes. The body extends forward, and the surfaces emulate Alfa Romeo's characteristic expression. Door openings and the expansive panoramic roof allow the driver a unique view akin to an aircraft cockpit. Opening the hood and doors emphasizes the dramatic design of the vehicle. The "aggressive" rear design is balanced by the curved front, with its highest point in the middle of the roof, a unique design element. The space conveys the car's strength through the shortened rear, a V-shaped graphic, and the circular taillight clusters.

The new 33 has, of course, embraced modern standards. It is powered by a 6-cylinder biturbo engine that delivers 620 horsepower to the road. An electronic limited-slip differential is transmitted to the rear wheels through an eight-speed DCT gearbox, helping to transfer power to the ground. With only 33 exclusive units, tuned through a unique artisanal process, the new two-seater coupe embodies both the heritage and future of Alfa Romeo as a symbol of elegant Italian sportiness. Even inside, the New 33 Stradale recalls the legend of the past. The steering wheel, devoid of typical buttons, offers an experience of pure driving pleasure. The cockpit-style instrument panel has controls arranged on various levels, including overhead in the roof lining. The aviation-inspired dashboard and central tunnel are made from materials like aluminum, carbon fiber, leather, and Alcantara. The enveloping seats reinterpret those of the predecessor, ensuring comfort and ergonomics. Every detail is designed to create an exclusive and appealing environment while preserving the aesthetic and technical legacy of the 1967 33 Stradale.
