Scoop spotted: Lotus Exige S Roadster

It was quiet around Lotus for a while. Until Dany Bahar came up with some big plans. Luckily, that’s over again and Lotus went back to doing what they’re good in. Building good cars like the Exige S Roadster. The first copy was spotted in the United Kingdom.

Last year, Lotus revealed the Exige S Roadster during the Geneva Motor Show. It’s the first Exige available as a Roadster. It’s a strange thought because the Exige was always made as a hardcore racer which was all about performance. A roadster often brings problems with the stiffness of the coachwork. According to Lotus, the Exige S Roadster is almost just as stiff as the Coupe version. The Exige S Roadster has a 3.5 liters V6 engine which produces 345 bhp. Combined with a weight of only 1,100 kilograms this gives you an amazing performance. The sprint to 100 kph can be done in less than four seconds. The top speed of the car is 272 kph but because this car is a Roadster, Lotus limited the top speed to 230 kph. Next to that, it isn’t even fun to drive this car at its top speed. The real quality and fun can be found in corners on the track. This Lotus can compete with Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s on the track and it costs way less than these Italian supercars.
