It was quite a shock when Porsche came up with the limousine Panamera back in 2008. The manufacturer of the 911 and Boxster started building a second model which wasn’t a proper Porsche in many people’s eyes. The Cayenne had the same commentary in the beginning, after which it managed to become a success, and so did the Panamera. For Porsche it’s time to refresh the model, after a long period of waiting. Meet the facelifted Porsche Panamera!
There are several important changes and improvements on the new Panamera. The most important thing is a new model, called the Panamera S E-Hybrid, producing 415 bhp. This Parallel Full Hybrid has got an electric engine producing 95 bhp. Especially the performance is unique for this model. The car has got a topspeed of 270 kph and can sprint to hundred kph in 5.5 seconds. Add an average fuel consumption of only 3.1 liters per hundred kilometers per hour to that, and the car must become a big hit.
What’s also new, is the Executive-model, with a fifteen centimeters longer wheelbase. This is Porsches answer to the ask for a longer Panamera at the Asian markets. Also the Panamera S has had a special threatment, its V8 is replaced by a smaller V6 Biturbo. This new engine developes 420 bhp and 520 Newtonmeters, which was 400 bhp and 500 Nm with the V8. Of course, the petrolheads will miss the soundtrack of the V8.
A facelift isn’t a proper facelift with new looks, the Panamera looks up to date again. The lines became smoother, the light units are new. With this the car is ready for the following years!
