I found this 2016 Mercedes-Benz E350 4Matic Estate parked on Cherry Street on 9/10/2016... just kidding, this isn't an E350 4Matic. This is actually a 2016 Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG S Estate S212 rebadged as an E350 4Matic. You usually see cars where people put AMG badges on stock Mercedes, but never the other way around. Why someone would do this I don't have a clue. The owner told me it was debadged but this wasn't what I was expecting. Thoughts on this?

Yeah I don't get it either!!! Why??? I see it on some of the European spots as well, actually quite a lot. Tax evasion??

In my opinion it's pretty cool! @OPspotters I don't think so. In Europe you can see RS6 C7 Avant, I'm sorry for you :( with A6 2.0 TDI badges or so :D but I guess it is just for fun because non petrol heads probably did not notice that is actually an RS or AMG in this case

@OPspotters Maybe because of pollution taxes? I see cars like this a lot in Berlin. Or it could be for the police maybe?

I think it's pretty clear people do this for the stealth/sleeper factor. Some people know what an AMG is but when you remove the badges they think it's just another Merc, or a Merc with a sport package. In other words, not fast. When you pull up beside someone at a stop light in that thing or somebody tries to pass you on the freeway, nobody is expecting you to take off. Personally I think the fact that it's a wagon is stealth enough but maybe that wasn't enough for the owner? I wouldn't do it, I'm pretty OCD about keeping the original badges.

This model even exists with the so called business package having the look of a standard E Class wagon. In Europe is a matter of keeping low profile...
