Mercedes-Benz is working on a formidable competitor

Mercedes is trying very hard to complete their list of versions of the S-Class. The standard four-door saloon, two stretched versions, a coupé and eventually a cabriolet! Meanwhile, they unveiled the Coupé and Mercedes-Benz started the development of the cabriolet. The car was spotted at the Nürburgring.

Since the W111/W112 Mercedes-Benz never made a S-Class convertible. This car was produced in 1971 and was a beautiful appearance. Luckily, this will change with the new S-Class convertible which is currently tested by Mercedes. Just like the old convertible, the car will get a canvas roof instead of a hardtop. The photos show us a hardtop, but Mercedes did this to camouflage the canvas roof. The Convertible will get the same eight- and twelve cylinder engines as the S-Coupé. Next year, the car will be unveiled and the BMW 6 Series Convertible and Maserati GranCabrio will get a new competitor.
