How Volvo Have Taken the 4x4 World by Storm (Again)

In 2002, Volvo unveiled the superb XC90 – a car that took the world by storm and resulted in demand hugely outstripping supply for the first few years. The second generation hit the roads in 2014 and had a lot to live up to, but again Volvo has shocked the 4x4 world with another incredible car which has received rave reviews and won dozens of awards. In fact, both generations have won the Motor Trend’s SUV of the Year award in their debuts.

The second generation is pioneering in the 4x4 field and rubs shoulders with superb rivals including the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne and the Mercedes GLE. The XC90 has been praised in particular for its technology, safety, efficiency and style, which makes it a great investment for any motorist.

Interior
The interior of the new XC90 is one of its key selling points. The seven-seater is extremely spacious and comfortable, even when there are seven people on board. It also boasts ample storage room in the boot. The impressive and intuitive large central touchscreen makes all the major functions easy to control, plus the sleek design adds to the modern feel of the vehicle. It also has great style with high-quality interior plastics, brushed aluminium inserts and a leather-trimmed dash top.

Performance
Available in 2.0-litre petrol, diesel and petrol-electric plug-in hybrid, each version comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. It is fun and easy to drive with responsive handling and it offers great ride comfort and particularly at higher speeds. Additionally, the XC90 has excellent fuel economy with the diesel version averaging almost 50 mpg in official tests.

Affordable Models
If you are deterred by the cost of the XC90, you may want to consider shopping for an older model at a 4x4 specialist, like Saxton 4x4. This will reduce the price by a considerable amount, but you will still be driving away with a vehicle of the highest standard. In addition to the excellent value for money, you can also rest assured knowing that the car will not let you down as it is one of the industry leading vehicles.

The second generation of the XC90 has built on the success of its predecessor and is a 4x4 which ticks all of the boxes. If you are in the market for a new SUV, you will certainly want to take a look at this one and take it out for a spin.
