Hard to spot: the Audi R8 GT Spyder

Regularly, we as the crew of Autogespot discuss if some Audi models like the S4 and S5 are exclusive enough for our website. Are the S5 and S6 exclusive enough to be added on Autogespot? And the other models, what about them? A model which belongs on Autogespot for sure is the Audi R8 GT Spyder. The R8 GT Spyder also is the subject in this article. In Vienna, the fourth unique copy is spotted.

The car is expensive. We're talking about 225.000 British pounds. That’s quite a lot for an Audi which looks very similar to its slower brothers, according to many people. Of course this is nonsense, because this is a real monster, and that’s very easy to see. Extra spoilers, carbon fiber accents, tough wheels, and nice round exhaust pipes. The convertible Spyder version is even more great to look at as its closed brother, the Audi R8 GT.

The power is also boosted, to a stunning 560 bhp. The standard R8 V8 only has 420 bhp, the R8 V10 525 bhp, and the GT of course even more. Also, the weight is dropped with 85 kilograms by use of lighter materials. This is about the engine but also about the interior and parts of the body. Without passengers, the R8 GT has got 2.93 bhp per kilogram. Extremely light! What does that mean actually? A top speed of more than 199 mph and 0-62 mph in less than 4 seconds. The chance to see a second copy is minimal, because only 333 copies are built by Audi.
