Going green! Alpina b5 biturbo

Going green! Alpina b5 biturbo

Perfektion im Detail, for years this was the slogan of a small car company bases in Buchloe Germany. The company develops and sells high performance versions of BMW models. Alpina works very closely with BMW and the process is integrated with the BMW production lines.

Where other companies are considered tuners Alpina is officially recognized as a car manufacturer by the German government. The process goes like this, the car is build at the regular production line of BMW, the engine is built at the alpine headquarters. The engine is shipped to BMW for installation. When the car is finished it is send to Alpina for the rest of the work.

The car in question is The B5 Bi-Turbo. The B shows it’s a gas car whereas the D means it’s a diesel car. The 4.4 litre V8 is producing around 600 Bhp and does 0-60 in 3,5 seconds and will keep accelerating all the way to 330 km/h / 203 mp/h destroying the competition in the likes of the Audi RS6 or the Mercedes E63.

Alpina tried to find the perfect match between performance and comfort, this is why it is faster than the M5 but not as loud. Personally I wouldn’t mind, the car is quite discrete compared to for example an M5. Perfect for a daily driver where you know you are faster than 99% of the cars on the road but don’t show it, you have to be a petrol head to know what you are dealing with.

This car is painted in a gorgeous dark green paint, the wheels are silver and the interior is dark brown leather. In a standard Alpina the interior of BMW is used and upgraded with some stitching and badges. You can however go crazy and ask the guys at Alpina to customize the entire interior entirely to your own desires.

An amazing find and an amazing car.
