Geneva 2017: Audi RS5

The decision is made for Audi Sport. Where the previous generation RS4/RS5 were the final bastion of the naturally aspirated engine, downsizing now took place. Does that affect the new RS5? Definitely not!

Yes, the lovely 4.2 liter V8 is replaced by a 2.9 liter V6 with two turbos. This engine is pure sports engine. It’s a completely new engine which is only aiming for performance. A total of 450 hp and 600 Nm of torque confirm this. Especially the torque is increased compared with the previous generation RS5. This results in a better driving car at lower rpm. The sprint from zero to 100 kph takes only 3.9 seconds and the top speed is 280 kph. This makes the RS5 keep up with its direct competitors, the BMW M4 van Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupe.

The design of the RS5 is like we’re used to from Audi Sport. We see big bumpers all around the car, widened fenders, two big exhausts, the characterizing grille and a beautiful new set of wheels. The design of the RS5 doesn’t really surprise us but this doesn’t make the car less interesting. The interior offers great seats which offer a lot of support. The RS5 isn’t such a big surprise but again a lovely total package from Audi.
