Ferrari revealed a new one-off: The Ferrari SP-8

In recent years, Ferrari has custom-produced a unique model for each common model type. As an esteemed Ferrari customer, you have the opportunity to commission a custom build. However, the fortunate buyer must be prepared to dig deep into their pockets. The exact prices are often closely guarded secrets, but one can assume they reach astronomical heights. Ferrari is a brand known for its premium prices. When such a custom build eventually reappears on the market, it can be traded at exorbitant prices.

The latest one-of-a-kind creation is a masterpiece of design. It's based on the F8 Spyder and naturally includes its technical specifications. The name of the vehicle pays respect to the 3.9-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, one of the most celebrated engines in history and a four-time winner of the prestigious "Engine of the Year" (IEOTY) Awards. The customer who commissioned the SP-8 hails from Taiwan, and the number 8 holds great significance in Chinese culture, as it is considered highly auspicious, traditionally symbolizing success, luck, and personal achievement.

The most outstanding feature of the Ferrari SP-8 is the fact that it has no roof. This makes it a pure two-seater roadster, emphasizing its sporty character and the immediate, exhilarating outdoor driving experience. This solution required extensive aerodynamic fine-tuning, based on CFD simulations, wind tunnel tests, and track tests, to ensure acoustic comfort and a wind feel that matches the original model.
The primary design theme of the vehicle lies in how its volumes interweave: the uncovered carbon fiber front extends to the rear, creating a striking two-tone effect, generating a powerful contrast in terms of color and material. By eschewing the retractable hardtop, the designers were able to completely redesign the entire rear section, giving it a sleek waistline. The vehicle's volume is divided into two parts and connected by a functional center area in matte black. This center area houses the side air intakes with separate channels for intercoolers and the engine. The upper part of this element contains a ventilation opening for the engine bay with elongated elements reminiscent of the characteristic side strakes of earlier Ferrari models.

Other areas of the Ferrari SP-8 that have been redesigned compared to the original model include the headlights, which feature special masks and lenses, taillights inspired by the Roma and with special lenses, the windshield, and the exhaust pipes, which have undergone the same rework as the 296 GTB. Additionally, specially designed wheels in a unique color (matt Grigio NART) have been integrated. These directional five-spoke wheels are exclusive to this unique car and offer a modern interpretation of the classic wheels used in Ferrari sports prototypes as well as the legendary F40. Their thoughtful design with distinctive sections and generous openings gives the vehicle a lighter appearance.
A significant change has been made to the center console in the car's interior to accommodate the F1 gearbox controls, which have been included in the Ferrari lineup since the debut of the SF90 Stradale. This required a modification of the iconic gear lever, which was specifically adapted for this requirement. The interior is complemented by seats with laser-etched details in navy blue Alcantara, combined with materials featuring a gradient effect. Specially designed twill fabric carpets with a shimmering effect complete the overall look.
