Actor Rowan Atkinson is known for two things. First of all his role as Mr. Bean and second his love for supercars. He owns one of the rare McLaren F1s which he crashed in August 2011. After sixteen months of work at McLaren, he finally got back his F1. Rowan Atkinson was now spotted in his car, he can finally enjoy driving his F1 again!
Everybody was very happy that Atkinson decided to repair this car. His insurance got a bill of up to £910.000,- which was needed to repair the F1. This is the highest amount of money ever paid by a car insurance in the United Kingdom. Due to this enormous amount of money, his current insurance for the F1 will be around £60.000,- a year!
The car is definitely worth this money. In 1997, Atkinson paid this car from the money he made for his role as Mr. Bean. Back in that time, the car costed £640.000,-. Atkinson wants to use his McLaren F1 for what McLaren built this car. He even participated in the McLaren Tour where an American crashed his F1. When this accident happened, Atkinson was the one who helped the American. Probably because he knows what it feels like to crash a McLaren F1.
The F1 is designed by Gordon Murray, an Englishmen who gathered a lot of knowledge at Brabham and McLaren Automotive in the Formula 1. Being technical director of McLaren Automotive, Murray is responsible for the legendary F1 which reached a top speed of 387,87 kph at the testing track of Nardo Prototipo. An insane top speed which couldn't be matched until ten years later. The F1 is a masterpiece at all aspects and this car is still an example for the modern generation of supercars.
