After the renderings, a concept car and a lot gossip the moment is finally there and Maserati starts the testing of the Maserati SUV. For the first time in the history of Maserati, they will build an SUV which has to increase their sales. The SUV with a lot of camouflage was spotted by AutoEvolution.
We already know what the Levante will look like. The car will be a by development of the Kubang Concept , which was shown in Frankfurt three years ago. Mix that SUV and the current design style of Maserati and the result is a more sporty and elegant SUV. The introduction will probably take place at the Geneva Motor Show. Maserati tries to release as less information as they can and that's why the SUV is hidden under a Ghibli.
You will have the choice between three engines which are also available for the new Quattroporte. This means a biturbo V6 producing 410 hp, a biturbo V8 producing 530 hp and eventually a diesel engine. Under the hood, the Levante will share technology with the current Jeep Grand Cherokee but the car will have a different character because it will be a real Maserati. The production of the model will take place in Italy. The most important thing about the SUV is the current goal of Maserati. Maserati wants to sell up to 50.000 cars in 2015. The first orders of the Levante can be made in March 2015.
