Geneva 2015: McLaren 675 Longtail

After teasers and a lot of rumors in January we finally meet the long awaited McLaren 675 LT on the Geneva Motor Show. McLaren brings two models to Geneva which have to do with the heritage of the company. The reintroduction of the Longtail is one of these models. In reality this 675 LT is a thoroughbred street legal sports car.

McLaren worked on the Longtail. Thanks to a longer wheelbase the car has a way better performance than the already impressive 650S Coupé. The complete suspension of the car is new. Even the aerodynamics are improved to compete with the Ferrari 458 Speciale, the car’s biggest competitor. Thanks to bigger and active spoilers, the downforce of the 675 LT is improved with 40 percent compared with the 650S Coupé. This makes it the top of the range model in McLaren’s Super Series. At the back we see an active spoiler which influences the downforce of the car. Next to that the spoiler is the unique Longtail air brake. Next to all the improved technology the weight is reduced with 100 kilograms by using lightweight materials.

The power of the McLaren 675 LT is just like the name says, 675 hp. The 675 LT has a stunning performance thanks to its low weight. The top speed is 330 kph and the sprint to 200 kph takes only 7.9 seconds. This is performance you couldn’t think of ten years ago.

The looks of this car are exactly what we expect of McLaren, just a bit more aggressive but not too much. McLarens always have a sporty styling. The racy look are characterized by big air intakes, more carbon fiber and a new titanium exhaust system.
